Why I have been so quiet today…
Despite being off work and having talked at Amplified08 yesterday I have had little interaction with the world, not even the disembodied world that is the internets. Why? I hear you ask in a quavering voice. Why have you not graced us with your awesome (in the original “inspires awe” meaning) presence today? For why? Our lives have been poorer for it…
Yes, that is all true, but today I have answered a deeper calling. By the addition of a drum key to my keyring and the assembling of something that looked remarkably like a flatpacked torture rack, I am now… A DRUMMER!
Well, I own an electronic drum kit (a Roland TD-3KW for those that care about those kind of things [hello Mr Rich]), which CityLink delivered bright and early without losing any bits – a first for them when dealing with me (last time I spoke for a very long time with a very nice lady at the depot who hated all the drivers and took great delight in printing out a map, circling my block of flats [which was actually labelled in the A-Z], colouring it in with a yellow higlighter and the writing ‘It’s really not that hard to find’ after they took my pc back to base claiming that my house didn’t exist). So, I have spent the day being very quiet playing drums very loud through my headphones. I will also admit to playing a bit of Rock Band 2, and it seems that a mere four or five hours of ‘real’ drumming significantly upped my game, even if I can’t play anything more complicated than the easy bits of AC/DC on my real kit yet.
Next challenge is to work out what to do with the boxes. Currently I’m sitting on the floor feeling sciatica slowly seep its evil and agonising way back into my leg, as the sofa is otherwise occupied. I’m thinking illegal bonfire or wendy house, but either way I can’t really tell anyone which I choose…
Anyway, it’s the London Perl Workshop tomorrow but I’m sure I’ll find some time to ramble at great length about Amplified at some point in time in the near future. This is your one day (or so) warning. For the time being, here are some faces that we drew in a session on having fun. All will be explained in the future…

Hi, Billy…Lor helped me to track you down. Surprisingly hard for such an obviously noisy man like you! Just wanted to say sorry I missed you when you cut away from Brentford. Good to meet and psd to see the results elsewhere here. It\’s interesting to see what different people do with the same location, isn\’t it.
