Films for 2009
Inspired by Cristiano Betta I grabbed the current IMDB top 250 movies and had a trawl through to see how I was doing. The tally comes out in my favour, with 150 watched, 5 to be released this year and 95 left to go. So, my project for this evening is to add those 95 to Lovefilm and kick them up the priority list in an effort to fill in some holes in my movie education.
Of the upcoming, 4 aren’t a surprise, as I’d heard about them, and I hadn’t heard of the 5th:
Two of the five were already on my ‘go to the cinema’ list and the other three are now on there (with the release of all of them in the next month or so). Of the 95 remaining there are a few on the list that I’m almost ashamed of not seeing: Schindler’s List (never seen the whole thing), The Elephant Man, Brief Encounter, the Chaplin collection, Toy Story, The Day the Earth Stood Still (the old good one), Lawrence of Arabia and It’s a Wonderful Life. There doesn’t seem to be many that I don’t want to watch (Lion King is in there…), so let’s see how it goes.

Great idea. You could also track them in ListsofBests. http://www.listsofbests.com/list/1004 – I’ve done 46%, maybe more, as there are a few films on there that I think I may have watched but am not sure, so i’ll have to watch them ‘again’.

I am thinking of making a Top 250 Web-App/Facebook App that allows you to track your scores, and even arrange meetups with others to view the movies, etc.
